Perhaps the ULTIMATE HEAVY METAL band is MERCYFUL FATE. Fronted by vocalist extrordinaire, KING DIAMOND, and formed in 1982, Mercyful Fate had an 8 year hiatus after breaking up in 1985, for their 1993 re-union with the album "IN THE SHADOWS"(my personal favorite)- the rest has been nothing but Great album after great album ever since. King Diamond has been busy with the King Diamond band for some time, since Mercyful Fates GREAT "9" album in 1999.

MERCYFUL FATE is one of those bands that DEFINES Heavy Metal, along with the likes of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

KING DIAMOND's ABIGAIL II THE REVENGE ALBUM- EASILY THE GREATEST ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN 2002! BUY IT!! IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Looking forward to the Next King Diamond album, to be titled "The PuppetMaster" and should be available late 2003 with a Tour to follow! Hopefully we'll see something from Mercyful Fate again soon after! STAY HEAVY!
