Tips for a safe, enjoyable snowmobile experience

Have your machine in top operating condition. Carry an emergency repair kit (spare drive belt, spark plug, and basic tools to complete minor repairs). When possible, carry spare gas in an approved container.
Travel in groups of at least 2 machines. Inform some responsible party of your destination and approximate return time.
Wear appropriate gear: Warm and windproof clothing, sunglasses or goggles, extra gloves and socks.
Check the weather forcast. Don't travel in an unfamiliar area during bad or unsettled weather.
Carry a map of the area in which you intend to travel, and a compass. Make sure you know how to use them!
Know your machine and its capabilities.
Ice can be dangerous. If you must travel on ice, do so with extreme caution.
Carry a survival kit - matches(in a waterproof case), hatchet, first aid kit, extra foor, signal flares, and strong rope. On extended trips, carry snowshoes.
Don't drink and drive. This applies to your snowmobile too.

Be extra cautious when riding at night.
